I’m tired. Like really tired. Like, more tired than I was when I had a newborn tired. And I was really tired when I had a newborn.
This is a list of all the work projects I’ve been doing since January:
1. Wrote Move Your DNA: Restore Your Health Through Natural Movement
Actually I wrote most of it before January, but it turns out that writing the book is the easy part. The six months after you turn it in is a daily to-do list of edits, creating rough images to be done by an illustrator, edits to the illustrations, etc.
My favorite part of the crappy pic on the bottom left is where I wrote: Clear? As in, do you have everything you need to spin gold from dog poop, Genius Illustrator?
2. Wrote Don’t Just Sit There
For all of you out there working hard on getting what is, essentially, your life's work into a single book: Don't agree to write a second book while you're still working on the aforementioned book. Pretty much guaranteed to make you sob at least once every other day.
3. Recorded the audiobook for Move Your DNA.
For some reason I thought this would be easy, but let me assure you, this was more grueling than actually writing the text. Bonus: There are outtakes. Really hilarious, no-way-in-hell I'd ever let them out of the can outtakes.
4. Recorded the audiobook for Don’t Just Sit There.
See comment #2.
5. Filmed the video supplement for Don’t Just Sit There.
This was a long day, but it was in Malibu, so I don't feel like complaining about it. (And, I just happened to meet Laird Hamilton and my B.F.F. Gabby Reece at lunch, so I'll just count my blessings and be thankful.)
6. Started the KatySays iTunes Podcast
I know podcasts sound glamorous, but they look more like this behind the scenes.
7. Was a guest on other podcasts.
8. Wrote (almost) a blog per week.
This is my office. Those Post-its are blog ideas that I have. That list on the left is 80 things that need to be finished by tomorrow at 9AM. The papers on the counter are tests to grade, tax papers that need filing, and research papers to be read. That black notebook (under my orange wallet) contains the notes for my next 3 books. I should probably take better care of it. The Mixmaster is a mix master.
9. Built a new website for both RestorativeExercise.com and KatySays.com.
All I'm going to say is, there are bobble heads. The end.
10. Taught a certification week in Ventura.
11. Taught a second certification week in Ventura six weeks later.
12. Taught a certification week in Connecticut.
13. Produced a video promo for Move Your DNA.
14. Choreographed 20 new Alignment Snacks.
I'm calling this set the Old School House Series because it was filmed in a 100+ year old school house. I know, you're excited. I am too. They'll be out in October.
15. Spoke at a conference in Colorado.
I just did this on Saturday, and because I haven't left my kids overnight yet, I flew to Denver at 7 in the morning, drove and hour to speak for 2 hours, then drove an hour back to the airport and hopped on a flight home. I normally don't like to speak at conferences (too short a time for too big a message), but this was a conference for educators of kids and I gave the keynote: Thinking Outside The Chair. #smallsacrifice #worthit
(I'm sorry. Blog posts are no place for hashtags. #hashtagsorry)
If all of this wasn’t enough, my family and I are leaving in 24 hours for 6 weeks on the road; Seattle to Minneapolis to Nova Scotia to Ireland to Scotland to Holland to Iceland to Seattle.
For the last month I’ve been wracking my brain to figure out how I’m going to manage the travel with little kids, running the Institute, and creating new content. And then I saw this tweet:
I couldn't get it out of my mind as I always take my work "on vacation." After a few days I decided that I, too, could take an entire month off. That enjoying my travels was worth it. That my health was worth it.
I’m actually so busy that I haven’t even stopped to be excited about these amazing places I get to visit, which I find incredibly ridiculous. So, instead of blowing through the experience, I’m going to enjoy the process. Enjoy, for example, our family's typical airport experience.
Here's where I'll be on the road; come out if you can, I'd love to meet you!

So, this is a long way to say, I’m tired and have decided to take August off. Off from the blog, off from creating new projects, and off of teaching (except where I’ll be teaching on the road). Many of you are probably off enjoying your own vacations., but in case you’re wondering what to read while I’m gone? Might I recommend ordering this:
My latest baby will be shipping from our offices by August 15th. If you want to order the early release (and get a free e-book) you can do that here www.MoveYourDNA.com, until August 1st. Thanks for your order, I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!!
The end. Seriously. I'm done working now.
Done.
Go.
There's no more.
Really.
