Description
Our Diastasis Recti paperback comes with a handy bookmark that features all the exercises in the book.
Also available in ebook.
Diastasis Recti, the separation of the abdominal muscles, isn’t just a problem with your abs, and it wasn’t just caused by pregnancy! It’s a whole-body problem. In this book, you’ll learn why it happens and how to create the changes that will help.
Your abdominal muscles bend, twist, and support the spine. They contract and release to help you breathe, cough, talk, and sing. They stretch to accommodate pregnancy, haul your lower body towards your upper, and protect your abdominal organs. They should not be splitting down the middle.
Biomechanist Katy Bowman explains the larger picture when it comes to DR, including:
- Body alignment
- Frequency of movement
- The effects of all-day forces, like intra-abdominal pressure
- Why you need to change how you move to stop causing DR
The book is for any man or woman experiencing abdominal separation or weakness and contains over 30 exercises. Just as important, it explains what has contributed to the problem in the first place.

I’ve just re-discovered this book. I lost it for a while 🙈. It’s easy to follow and deeply explained exercises are great. While it was lost I forgot about some of the exercises and ended up with a painful shoulder. The physio helped me loosen it up then I found this book again and realised if I’d kept doing what Katy suggested I probably would never have had the problem in the first place. Here’s to swinging off trees. 🤪

My physical therapist recommended this book towards the end of my pregnancy. It was a game changer and helped me recover. I still utilize the principles from this book, and likely will for the rest of my life.

I really loved all the exercises and movement adjustments the book sugested. It was really easy to read and understand. If you are familiar with Katys work and are looking for a book which will give you tips for core stability you are right here. (And it is also a great book for everyone even without real core issues)
I love it.
Thanks for writing such valuable information Katy
